Riser diagrams and elevations

- [Instructor] Riser diagrams are usually a view of systems connections, such as fire alarm connections. Often times, these systems connect two devices throughout a building and incorporate more than one level or floor of the building. That's where they get the name, riser. Riser diagrams are very similar to one-line diagrams in that they connect the components together, but don't particularly show the individual wires as lines. They do normally identify the types of wires or cables used to connect the devices. Let's take a look at a riser diagram. All right, here we go. This riser diagram is for communication systems, also known as data. If you look, you'll see here, the upper floor is represented by this line and when I scroll back out a little bit, there's some lower level or lower floor items, as well also.
