- [Instructor] We've talked about protecting our heads and our hands and feet, and we discussed protecting our hearing, eyesight, and our lungs. That leaves the rest of the body. Depending on your profession or task, this can be a broad category. People working outside need to protect themselves from the sun while avoiding unnecessarily heavy clothing that could make them overheat too quickly. People working near electrical power need to be protected from electrical shock, arc flashes, and burns. Welders also need to be protected from burns and the heat generated by their work. Healthcare workers will perform tasks that necessitate the use of gowns to keep blood and other bodily fluids off their skin. And some lab workers will wear full coveralls to keep chemicals off of their skin and their regular clothing.
