Slicing and host programs

- There are several parts to the 3D printing workflow. In this movie, we'll focus on the particular strengths and weaknesses of programs that turn CAD files into commands for film and printing. These programs are called slicers. Some also have the capability to send commands to a printer. A program that can do this is called a host program. If your printer uses a proprietary program, it might be based on the heritage common to one of these so you should be able to generalize. One of the oldest programs still in use today is Slic3r. Which is pronounced slicer, but spelled with a three in place of the E. You can download it from slicer.org. Prusa Research maintains their own version PrusaSlicer.
