Stairs are much safer than ladders

(upbeat motivating music) - When I talk about construction management, my favorite topic is the integration of safety, quality, and productivity. And behind me here on this project is a great example of that. So what you see back here in the background is a stair tower. Now this is, I think, really unique and somewhat new on construction projects that we give some thought to how do people access all the different levels of this construction project while it's under construction? There's no stairs in this building yet. So in the past, we've used ladders and we'd get from one level to the next on a ladder. This is a rough way to get up to the next level. Now think about that for a second. It's not real productive, because it takes a long time to climb up a ladder, and you can't carry anything with you and still climb that ladder safely, so you have to find a way to get your tools up after you get up on the ladder.
