- [Instructor] One of the benefits of Civil 3D is that really all the data is kept within the drawing and then we can link that data which we'll find out later. Survey data though is much more proprietary and this survey data needs to be kept in a separate database. This way it provides multiple additional options to work with this data. One of the beneficial options is really the ability to automate the line work that's drawn as you shoot curbs, center lines and so forth. So survey data and the means to automate the line work is controlled by many different external databases. Let's take a brief peak at these different databases. They're found in the Survey tab of our Toolspace on Civil 3D. We have our Survey Databases. The Survey Database would be where the main project data is stored. As you import survey data, it'll be stored in that database and you see that it's per project.
