Table

- The use of the table applies directly to end mills and not lathes. Basically, the table is what you clamp your work piece down on when you are cutting it. The table can change depending on the type of mill being used. For example, the table might move or it might completely sit still when the machine is moving around the table. A few critical aspects to keep in mind about the table is to make sure that it is free from damage. You want to make sure the table is clean and free of debris and of course the table must be level. If your table moves, you want to make sure that it moves freely in all directions. One last consideration, lash. In simplest terms, lash is a jiggle on the handle of the machine. For the most part, this applies to manual mills. You need to account for how much play or lash is going to be on the handle before the table begins to move And if you don't account for this lash, you will get inaccurate cuts.
