- [Narrator] If you're trying to print a tall skinny object like the tower shown here, you might wind up with a messy, blobby print instead of a nice clean print like this one. The reason is that each layer is so small that the plastic in the previous one hasn't had time to cool. In this movie we'll suggest a few techniques for getting around this problem. If your printer has a fan that points down toward the print turning that on will help with cooling. These fans should be software controlled, so make sure your slicer is configured to turn it on. In Cura, check that the Enable Print Cooling box is checked. In other slicers, there may be parameters having to do with percentage of fan on. And Discourse's movie on cooling issues might give you some other tips. You can also adjust the minimum layer time parameter in most slicers to slow down the print once the layers get too small.
