- [Woman] Figure 3D printers are becoming more affordable. When prints began to be a few feet on a side, some of the things that are annoyances with the small print become bigger issues. Thinking about these issues during the design phase and while orienting your print can minimize problems. The print shown here, designed by Casella Design LLC and printed on a Make It Ink printer show good practices. A large print still has to stick to the print bed. If it falls over after 24 hours of printing, that makes for a bad day. The print needs a solid base, but using a flat surface may not be ideal. The huge surface will have a tendency to warp, which is especially problematic for split-planes intended to be glued back together after printing. The strong adhesion required to prevent warping will make it really difficult to remove the print after printing without damaging it. One option is to print at an angle. If you add a raft and…
