Understanding heat's impact on people in the workplace

(steady music) - Construction, agriculture, warehousing, manufacturing, landscaping, mining. All of these are examples of labor intensive industries that may require people to work in the heat. When we rely on people to get things done we need to take steps to ensure that those people stay safe and healthy. Extreme weather conditions like excessive heat are not something we can control. That means it's important to understand the risks and the hazards presented by these environments and to understand the signs and symptoms of heat related illnesses to keep ourselves and our coworkers safe. Whether you're a safety and health manager you manage a group of people who work or train in the heat or you work or train in the heat yourself. This course will teach you what you need to know to stay safe and healthy. Join me here in my LinkedIn learning course to learn about how your body processes extreme heat and humidity, how you can use engineering and work practice controls to stay safe, and how to recognize the symptoms of heat related illnesses along with the recommended first aid procedures.
