Building a modifier stack
- [Instructor] We're going to use a modifier to delete part of our object. And as I mentioned earlier, the selection that we made is actually stored in the scene file. And to illustrate that I'm going to load the scene file up. I've currently got nothing loaded in 3ds Max. Go to the file menu and choose open. And from the current project scenes folder scroll down to 04_04_build_modifier_stack and open that up. It doesn't look like anything is selected but there is a polygon selection in effect. To see that we need to select the object and then additionally go into the modify panel. And now the polygon selection that was stored in the scene file is exposed and we can see it. If I click anywhere off the object I will lose that selection. But of course I can get it back from the undo button. I want to delete the selected polygons. I can do that non-destructively using a modifier called delete mesh. Go up to the modifier list and choose delete mesh. Scroll down a little bit, delete mesh…
