Using the exercise files

- [Instructor] This particular course comes with a group of exercise files that you can use to follow along with the videos in the course. When you're using the exercise files, they can be downloaded from the library and all of the DWG files, the AutoCAD files that you're using for this particular course are saved in a 2013 DWG file format. What that means is older versions of AutoCAD can read those files. This particular course is recorded using AutoCAD 2021, but you can go all the way back to AutoCAD 2013 using the 2013 DWG file format. I'll let you know what file to use for each video. So when you jump into the video, I'll tell you which file to use that you've downloaded from the library. And it's always good to store the exercise files in a known location. They normally download as a ZIP file. You need to unzip them and then store them in a known location. Maybe on your hard drive, maybe on a server, you could even store them in the cloud if you've got a cloud-based file account. And have the exercise file open before starting the video. That way, when you jump into the video, you're ready to go rather than jumping around trying to work out which file you need to have open before you start the video. So what you've got is the ability in the library when you're watching the videos just to pause the video after I've told you which file you need to use. Get the file open, hit that pause button again so it starts to play the video, and you're ready and you're up and running to go and to start learning.
