Viewport shading controls

- [Narrator] We know that viewports have different modes like shaded and rendered. These show us what surfaces look like, but not really. We're actually looking at a viewport mesh. This mesh is used for visual feedback. It's also adjustable and makes a big difference on how our model will render. I'm going to look at a simplified example to illustrate. So I'm going to turn off our current geometry layer, turn on this curve example and then zoom in a bit. So on the left is a polyline with sharp edges, which is faster for the computer to handle. The control point curve on the right is more accurate and smooth. So as you might guess, it can be slower for the computer to handle. This same principle applies to our surfaces. So the display mesh that is used in the viewport just helps us work faster. Your video card and monitor might not be able to keep up with a really super smooth nerve surface. So you usually…
