- In the last video, we calculated volumes, and I used one example of finding the volume of a room, and another example of finding the volume of the concrete I need to order for the concrete floor in an office building. So far in this course, I've touched a little on rounding up and down, and in the last video, I did mention adding a waste factor to our calculations. I want to take a few minutes now to expand on that concept, and explain what I mean by a waste factor. One of the problems we have in the construction industry is waste. And over and under calculating things like material quantities, is something that contributes to this problem. Ordering more materials than needed often results in throwing that unused, unneeded material away. Not ordering enough material, often results in people waiting around for an extra order to be placed and delivered when the crew runs short. Now whether it's wasted material, or…
