Is safety really number one?

- We see this all the time now in the construction industry, safety is number one. We hear it all the time in our morning huddles, safety's number one. It's everywhere. We put stickers on toolboxes, signs on the job sites, slogans on our brochures, safety is number one. But is it? Is safety really number one? And actually, what does that even mean? Does it mean that we can ignore quality and productivity as long as we're working safely? I don't think so. I don't think anyone would like the results of that. Yes, we absolutely need to make sure we all go home at the end of the day uninjured and healthy. I'm not questioning that. But when we say safety is number one, do we really mean that? It's a good question, and it's one that I love to explore with people. So I hope you'll join me here in my course on LinkedIn Learning, as I jump in and discuss just how safety fits in on our work sites.
