What is reverse engineering?

- Let's face it, reverse engineering is an extremely expansive topic. In this course we'll focus on discovering how real world objects were designed and how to recreate what was once made, even then the original drawings are no longer available. Through the use of hand tools, digital scanners and touch probes we can quickly capture the size and shape of existing objects. This data can then be put into a CAD system and recreated as a digital model. From there we can begin the manufacturing process. Oftentimes the tools that were used to measure the original parts are used to help make the new parts. Once the parts are manufactured we can use the same tools to help us verify the final parts are correct. I'm Steven Marjieh.
