Who this is for?

- [Instructor] This course assumes some familiarity with 3D printing and its workflow. If you're someone who has to help other people debug what's going wrong with their prints, you might find this course particularly helpful. - [Narrator] We have a short intro to the parts of a 3D printer at the beginning of this course. We've geared the material towards the intermediate or advanced 3D printer user, however, we hope we've given enough background so that someone trying to figure out how to get started should be able to get past the common hurdles we talk about. If you're trying to teach yourself how to use a printer you might want to view our other course Additive Manufacturing: Optimizing 3D Prints. That course teaches how 3D printers work and the workflow for using them in more depth than this course does. - [Instructor] If you're following along with the exercise files you can download them from the main course page. We include the files not so much for you to follow us step-by-step, but so that you have your own example of the particular problem to play with in your own software. If you prefer, you should be able to experiment with your own sample files. For many of our examples, we'll be using Ultimaker Cura to help visualize the printing process, as well as to show the effects of various print settings. Like most slicers Cura has a preview mode that lets you visualize what the printer will do before starting a print. By default, Cura's custom mode shows only the most user-friendly settings. For some of the more advanced settings you'll need to change the sayings visibility mode, or use the search function. If you're using another slicer your options may look different, but they are usually settings that are equivalent to the ones we discuss. You may also look at some of the resources listed in the last movie of this course for more background information than is available here. By the way, if you don't have a 3D printer yet and you're wondering what you may be getting yourself into, don't panic of the sheer amount of material. Experts will need to know all the ins and outs. And this course is intended to help debug the problems that come up when you really get into using your printer.
