Work practice controls

- Work practice controls are steps that we can take to change the way we work or train to reduce the risk to a hazard. There are four main work practice controls that we can take to reduce the risks associated with heat. The first three are all related to the rest portion of that water, rest, and shade mantra. So number one is schedule activity that requires the most physical exertion for a time of day where there is less heat or humidity. With a little advanced planning, it's often not that difficult to break your work or activity into different tasks and then schedule those tasks that are the most physically demanding for the coolest time of day. Number two, you can reduce the level of physical activity. And I think this can be accomplished in a couple of ways.
