- [Instructor] This ladder has multiple rungs. Let's see how they interact with each other. First we'll apply the 120 volts. Now without any action, you'll notice the bottom light lights up. That's because there's a normally closed control relay contacts on the bottom. That means when Control Relay one is de-energized, that circuit is already closed and those contacts are closed, allowing the light to light. Let' say we push the push button to start Control Relay One. That will light up. What'll happen next? You got it. Control Relay One normally open contacts in the middle here. Those will close, and the ones on the bottom, Control Relay One, those will open. The green light'll off and the red light'll go on. It'll close the circuit in the middle and open the circuit in the bottom.
