Add imperfections with shaders
- [Instructor] Adding imperfections and variation to materials improves their level of realism, but also adds contrast and visual interest to the scene as a whole. We're going to work with this green material to add some reflection and break that reflection up. First, let's just take a render of the view, and you can see how flat this is. So we want to be able to catch some light and just create a more interesting-looking surface. I'll double-click the green material, and we'll start working in the reflectance channel. We'll add a Beckmann layer. And I want to increase the roughness by quite a bit, something like 50. We've lost that green color. And to get it back, we'll just change our Fresnel to Dielectric. And I'm going to use the PET preset. If you twirl down the little arrow here next to Roughness, you'll see a field where we can apply a texture. And I'm going to add a noise shader.
