Adding lighting to the photographic studio
- [Narrator] When lighting products our goal is to create a diffused lighting setup. Diffusion is the process of softening the light from the light source. We don't necessarily want the product to look flat but we also want to avoid harsh shadows and strong specular highlights. We'd want to avoid extreme contrast lighting such as spotlights and use something that represents softboxes. A softbox is a large light source that produces an even panel of light and CINEMA 4D has Area Lights which can replicate the light produced by a softbox. As we saw in the examples in the first movie of this chapter the light setup is quite minimal and usually follows a typical three point lighting setup. So we'll be working with multiple lights to achieve a realistic studio light setup. So what I've got in this scene is a camera and if we look through that we can see that it's got this Tag on it, okay? It's called a Protection Tag and that just means if I were to move this camera I can't actually do…
