Applying materials with alpha channels
- [Instructor] We're going to apply a label to this cologne bottle and we want to restrict where it is applied. We do this by using selections. We've already learned about selection tags in an earlier movie, so I've gone ahead and using Polygon selection mode, I've selected a group of polygons on the bottle and I've created a selection tag. Let's create a new material, so Create, New material. I'm going to drag it over and I'm just going to double-click and name it label. Let's double-click on that material to open it up in the Material Editor. And I'm going to come on over here and turn on the Alpha channel. Now the Alpha channel enables us to layer our materials with the next material in the hierarchy still visible. Let's click into here and load in this label.psd. Click Open and we'll click into here again and in the Layerset, we'll select our label group which is this top one here, so when that's orange, I want just that, going to say OK and let's turn off Reflectance.
