Create a bumpy greeble texture
- [Instructor] When you look at objects and surfaces in the real world, they're rarely perfectly smooth. They have irregularities, and these catch the light, and give the surface it's character. We can add bumps to our materials in a few ways, and we touched on this at the beginning of the chapter. We're going to focus on the displacement channel, and that's used for creating realistic bumpy surfaces that hold up even when the camera is close. So I'm just going to play this through, and you'll see we have a nice title appearing for a show called Robots, and what we'd like to do is add a greeble texture to the letters. And if you're not familiar with what greeble is, just do an image search for greeble texture and you'll get something similar to this. And you can see it adds detail to the surface, and it's usually irregular, very technical looking, quite detailed, and generally not uniform.
