How to create a cross-section of a model
- [Instructor] In some instances, you'll need to visualize the cross section or cutaway of a model. Let's look at how we do that. So we've got this model of an aircraft engine. And if we twirl down the hierarchy here, we can see that we have many, many, many parts here. So the things we need to do is to isolate what's inside and what's outside, so the outer casing. So if I alt double click on these traffic lights, you can see we have all the inner parts of the engine here. Now I'm just going to twirl this up and make sure I'm not looking through my camera and I've got a protection tag on here so I wouldn't be able to actually move the camera around. So we'll come back and what we want to do is isolate these bases as they're known as here, these parts of the model, and then we want to figure out a way of giving them some volume, because you can see here it's just like a thin sheet of metal.
