How do I get my particles to move around? (Turbulence)
- [Male Instructor] In the previous movie, we saw the effects of turbulence and gravity on particles. Turbulence is a modifier that is commonly used in x particle systems to distort or displace particles. It's great for breaking up a regular patent in particle flow, making the particles dance around. So it's worth taking the time to become familiar with it. In this movie, I'll also share a technique for comparing what any modifier does. The x particles turbulence modifier offers a variety of noise types. The noise types determine how the particle flow is broken up. In this example, we can see the various noise types and the curl is clearly more chaotic than the others. Looking at curl in particular, it's producing these really tight swirls, known as eddies. And you can alter the settings to dial the effect back, as it can be a little strong. I've created two systems with pretty much identical settings. And this is going to help us learn what, in this instance, the turbulence modifier…
