- [Instructor] Lighting is such an important aspect of working in 3D. It can really elevate the visual appeal of a scene. Lighting is also one of the hardest things to get right unless you know how lights work in 3D. There are at least four important things to remember, when you first create a light in Cinema 4D. Light passes through objects, lights do not produce shadows, lights do not decay or lose intensity and the illumination from a light will not bounce. So with that in mind, let's add a light to our scene and follow some steps to resolve these points. Because the light object has many properties we can adjust to make them behave in a more realistic manner. If we come up to the Light menu, and click and hold, we'll see a number of different light types available. We'll create a spot light. A spot light is a light that is contained within a cone.
