Removing lens distortion - CINEMA 4D Tutorial

Removing lens distortion
- [Instructor] When motion-tracking or matching camera perspective, it's important to remove any lens distortion that may be present in the footage because it can produce inaccurate tracks. Now we were quite lucky in the example we have motion-tracked in this chapter, but when you want to match objects to the footage, having any lens distortion present will really make life hard. Lens distortion is present due to the curvature of the lens in conjunction with small focal lengths. The wide angle lens you have, the greater the lens distortion. It's especially apparent in a shot like this filmed on a GoPro. It's a good idea to film a lens grid with the same camera and lens you used for your shot. Be sure to make a note on set of the camera and lens type so you have a record. Then you can use the Lens Distortion Tool in Cinema 4D to calculate and save a lens profile. And we'll look at that next.
