Importing models

- [Instructor] Let's look at importing models. In most cases, you'll be provided with a model which is not in Cinema 4D's .C4D format. So having the ability to work with other 3D formats in C4D is important. We're going to import a common 3D format called OBJ into C4D. The OBJ format is in ascii format so the files can be opened in a normal text editor. Now, the OBJ files to be imported, must have a .OBJ extension otherwise Cinema 4D will not be able to read that file. So how do we get this file into Cinema 4D? Well, you can do it in a number of ways. You can locate in and just drag and drop it in but in the interface we'll just come over to File and choose Merge. We can just merge that into this current scene now and so navigate to the Excel's files and import the hairdryer obj file and before we do so, I want you to notice that we have also this .mtl file and a couple of jpgs as well.
