- [Instructor] Before we get started adding lights into our project let's go over here and click the render view or render active view button and check our out project. As you can see I've got a scene but it's not very dynamic. Even if we look at the materials here you can see they have reflections, but I don't see any reflections. I've got a bunch of elements floating in 3D space but I have no shadows. So we're going to attempt to fix this over the next couple movies. In this first movie we're going to focus on actually adding lights into the scene and shadows. So I'll do that by going up to my shelf here all the way on the right-hand side to my create tools and I want to create a light. So I'll click and hold and you can see I've got a whole bunch of different kinds of lights, and I like to start with a spotlight because it's rather directional.
