Light with HDRIs
- [Instructor] When working with materials that have reflective or refractive properties, having an environment in the scene is crucial. This object has a very reflective material on it. And if we render the scene, there's nothing there. The material is reflecting darkness. The lighting in the scene can be provided by an HDRI in combination with a sky object. Think of the sky object as a huge, all encompassing dome over the scene. Now we'll drop on an HDR and you can see that the view point changes. We can rotate the sky object and produce different looks. HRIs are used because they have so much lighting information in a single image. So let's just drop on another HDR. Just see what we've got here. Okay, so we're changing the look once again. If we double click the material and open it up you can see that, an HDR is typically added to the luminance channel.
