Lighting with Sky objects
- [Instructor] We're going to use another method to illuminate this scene called image-based lighting. This allows for highly detailed real-world lighting to be used to light the scene. We can add image-based lighting by creating material and then assigning it to a large sphere, or a Sky Object as commonly used. And that's preferable to adding the image to the environment channel of each material. So let's create a new material, and we'll double-click onto it and I'm going to table the color and the reflectance. You can add the material to the color or the luminance. I just prefer using the luminance. So we will then click into here and I'll add this image. Now unfortunately if we just go into it, it isn't an HDRI, it's just a JPEG I took with a sort of 360 app and it will give us some good reference for the reflections and things like that there and that's the kind of main goal of why we're using this in this particular instance.
