Rendering trails and splines

- Redshift handles splines, trails, and hair all very similarly. Let's go and take a look at how we can use an RS Object Tag in conjunction with a few different node types to learn how to render trails from X-Particles. The first thing we need to do is go ahead and go to our spiral trail, right-click on it, go to Redshift Tags, Redshift Object Tag. Once we get the Object Tag up, we notice that nothing is happening in our render view yet, and that's because we need to enable the Curve in our Curve section in the Object Tag. So we're going to come down to Mode and click on the drop-down. Now we have a couple of options down here. Boxes, Cylinders, Capsules, Cones, and Strips all generate geometry that is then passed along the spline that the trail creates. Hair Strands are more designed for very thick clumps of splines and are best used for distant shots. If we go and click Hair Strands here and then zoom in to our shot,…
