Using scalar data

- Scalar data notes in redshift give you access to various parameters other than color. Using this powerful node, we can tap into particle data such as age, density, and many other options. Let's go ahead and take a look at how we can use scalar data to age our particles and have them freeze. So you'll notice that I've applied a new material to our initial emitter. And I've just done this to speed up the process a little bit. I'll go and walk through this material just to explain what's going on. The top material here is just the same material that we use for our initial particles. I've just taken off the particle data so that we're getting color directly from the diffuse channel now. This bottom material is kind of a glassy, frozen looking material. I'll go and pipe that into our surface just so you can see it. If I zoom in here, you'll see it's just a glass with some tent to it, and a bump map. Now what I want…
