Using vertex maps to drive shaders
- [Instructor] In this lesson, we're going to use those same vertex maps that we used for displacement in order to drive the opacity of our shaders and create an invisibility cloak over our sphere. So first thing we need to do is just grab another vertex node. Drop that in. I'm also going to grab a ramp node, just so I can control this vertex a little bit better. I'm going to connect those two nodes together. And then we connect the ramp node to the opacity for each one of these materials. And now nothing is happening right now if we hit our render view. And that's because we need to tell the vertex map node which vertex map to look at. I'm just going to grab our opacity map and drop it down on there. So now if we just kind of scrub through here a little bit. I'm going to rewind and replay it. You'll notice that our sphere has gone completely invisible.
