From the course: Cinema 4D: Dynamics

What are dynamics?

Before we begin our tutorials, allow me to explain a few things in regards to cinema for these dynamic simulations. First of all, you may ask, what is a dynamic simulation? Well, according to Wikipedia, dynamic simulation is the use of a computer program. To model the time varying behavior of a system. But that's too broad of a explanation. Simply put, a dynamic simulation is when we set up parameters for a number of objects, and the software, Cinema 4D in this case. Calculates the motion of these objects according to the parameters we set. This refers mostly to object motion interactions. For example, collisions and rolls, bounces, gravity and falls, and more. Dynamics are part of Maxon's Cinema 4D studio version and include rigid body dynamics. Soft body dynamics, aerodynamic forces, cloths simulation and the thinking particle system. In this course we will focus only on rigid body dynamics. Rigid body dynamics is based on the open source Bullet Physics Library. And has been integrated and adapted to Cinema 4D's workflow to allow for the creation of some exceptionally fancy graphics. If you want to read about the Bullet Physics Library, feel free to head over to their website,bulletphysics.org, and take a look. Although it won't help you get any better at using Cinema 4D's dynamics. It's an interesting, albeit technical, read.
