- [Instructor] When you apply a material to an object a texture tag is created and the material is mapped onto the geometry using a type of projection. Which is defined in the texture tag. In most cases, the object will have a set of UV coordinates. Which tells the material how it should be mapped over the geometry. Let's take a look at how we work with material projections in Octane. If you haven't already just fire up the live viewer. And you'll be able to see what I can see here on screen. Now let's look at this landscape object and the material projection is set to UV mapping. And if we wanted to have a bit more control over this we could maybe try and change the mapping type to something like cubic. But that's doing something really strange. And I'm not expecting this kind of break up of the material over the surface. So let's just see how we can use the Octane projection node to resolve this.
