The importance of shot analysis

can be far from simple, so it's important to carry out appropriate shot analysis before getting to work. When we're analyzing the footage, we're obviously looking at something that's 2D but we need to think in 3D, in depth. What we want to do is make sure that there's enough depth information for the software. The software needs that so that it can calculate the camera motion, and it obtains that by observing the parallax in the shot. Now, this was the shot that we were looking at in our previous movie, where we just simply clicked the full solve command, and just let the computer get to work. And it did find a solution but, you know, on closer analysis we can see that there's certainly lens distortion present, there are moving people in the scene and there's some potential problem areas like the reflections in the windows and things like that.
