What you should know

- [Instructor] This course is a much more advanced course in HTML and CSS. And so, there's a number of prerequisites that you should have either the knowledge of or you've looked at our courses on those topics before you watch this course in order to get the most out of it. So, first of all, one of the most important things to know is HTML, the semantics of HTML, and so forth. And a great place to get that background is with our HTML Essential Training course. Second, you should have a really good, strong background in CSS, generally and specifically in a couple of areas. If you're looking for a general background, a great place to get that is here, CSS Essential Training. There are three parts to this. The first two are going to be most relevant to the course that we'll be working on. You can also take a look at my CSS Selectors course. This one talks about how to form selectors in CSS. You'll find me using a number of wildly different selectors in this course for various reasons. And so, if you're wondering how I went about forming those selectors, this course will walk you through that. You'll definitely need a background in Flexbox and in Grid Layouts. If you don't have any background in that, because these are relatively new technologies, this is the course where you should start looking at that. The Responsive Layout course will walk you through the basics of Flexbox and Grid, and we're going to build on those skills in this course. And then finally, although I'm not going to work with Sass directly in this course, I do talk about it a number of times, I make references to how to integrate Sass with various types of CSS variables, and custom properties, and calc. So, if you want to be really clear about what Sass is and how it works, you can always take a look at our Sass Essential Training course. So, that's sort of the background that you should have coming into this course, in other words, strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS, and definitely have a background with Flexbox and Grid before you start to layer on all of the new stuff that I'll be introducing here.
