Adding a camera plate or L-bracket

- I strongly recommend getting a camera plate. Nothing's more frustrating then heading out for a day of shooting and realizing that the proprietary tripod plate that you used to connect your camera to your tripod has gone missing. Now, I'm a big fan of the Arca Swiss Standard. This is widely supported by many tripod and ballhead manufacturers, and it will give you a solid mount with the camera. But there are a wide range of these out there, so don't feel like you have to use this system. Now in this case, let me show how this works. On this camera here, I've attached sort of a generic plate. You'll notice that it fits on the bottom here, and it uses a simple thumb screw or has a small, integrated handle here that you could pull up and then pull and turn to twist. And that locks it into place. The problem with this type of unit, though, is that if it's really centered under the camera, it may end up actually blocking things like the battery door.
