- In any business, especially photography, it's important for you to know where your competitors are, and where you stand in terms of the total market, for whatever service you're offering. And that applies to any business, but in photography, it becomes very significant, because too often you have clients that price shop, and they price shop because they don't understand the value of what you're offering. In their minds they're thinking, "Oh, it's just a couple of pictures. It's just a wedding album. A wedding album is a wedding album." Well, it's not. So right off the bat you want to pay attention to where is the competition? You want to go on and look at their other websites. One recommendation is don't mystery shop your competitors, just call them and say, "Would you be willing to share your prices with me? I'm starting a business." However you want to word it.
