- Okay, so controlling depth of field is a big feature of Primes. Primes have wider apertures, generally speaking, so they allow you to get the shallow depth of field that everybody's going for, and you also just want to be able to have a good control over depth of field, overall. - Yeah, like, for example, right now, I've got this lens set to f/16, and if you take a look at this relatively close object here, what you can see is that the whole thing is pretty much in focus, more or less from front to back. We could read the logo. The back here is in focus, but as I adjust that aperture and go shallower, of course, it initially starts to overexpose, so I'm gonna compensate with the ISO, and right now, I'm around f/4, which is a pretty typical focus range for a lot of kit lenses. And now, we're seeing that some of those elements for the front are just starting to fall out of focus, but it's still pretty sharp in the middle. Right? - Yeah, now notice what Rich is doing, too.
