Increased movement caused by fixed focal lengths

- Committing to using prime lenses means that you're gonna have to move the camera physically yourself to change focal length, because we're committing to a single fixed focal length with primes, you gotta move around. You can't just change the focal length on the lens. - Yeah, and sometimes moving around is perfectly fine. It leads to better, creative choices. It forces you to literally get off of your behind and move around and find the best shot. Other times, it's not possible. Sports photographers shooting on a sideline, you probably just can't walk onto the field to get a shot. They put you in spot and say, "Shoot from here." And you can't really move, so prime lenses might not get the job done there if you have to keep changing lenses, you might miss the shot. - So, having access to your subject is actually a practical consideration in choosing between zooms or primes or determining the range of lenses you're going to carry with you. - For example here, we have one that is a…
