- So with all lenses, there's some kind of inherent distortion, whether it's a zoom, or a prime, uh, some are good, some are worse, and basically the two kinds are optical and perspective distortion. Perspective distortion is sort of a naturally occurring function of any lens, it's not necessarily an error, but it's a naturally occurring thing based on the relative distance an object is to the camera, or how you're looking at something from an angle, right? - Yeah, and sometimes we can compensate for this with specialty lenses, like you have a tilt shift lens there, That would be really useful if you were shooting architecture and you were at a lower angle looking up, well this can help compensate, so inside the camera you're not getting as much of a keystone effect. Of course, software tools like Lightroom and Photoshop in the world of the photographer, make this super easy with the upright adjustment, to compensate during post-production.
