- Before we jump into advanced techniques, let's make sure you're familiar with all of the information displayed in the view finder. Now, I recommend you take your camera out and frame up a shot, it'll make it a lot easier to follow along. The first thing you're going to see is the battery check. If it's lit up fully, it means the battery is mostly charged and ready for use. If it's partly lit up, well, this means that the battery is starting to run low. Once it starts blinking red, well, it's time for a new battery, the camera might shut down on you quite suddenly. And it's always a good idea to travel with extra batteries so that you can swap one out. I'll usually bring three or four for a full day shoot. If you have the PBH, or what we would commonly refer to as a grip attached, you'll see the PBH indicator, this means that the power battery holder is attached.
