- In response to the popularity of the Micro Four Thirds system, Olympus introduced a series of pro lenses that are really a joy to use. These feature a constant aperture, which means that as you zoom, you're not going to see a change. For example, you notice here that I've set this to 2.8 and as I go though the entire range of the zoom, from 40 millimeters to 150 millimeters, the aperture does not need to change. This is quite nice that I have that precision as I make the change. You'll also notice that the lens is very good at holding focus as I change zooms. A less expensive zoom lens may not perform the exact same way. That constant aperture means that if you need the flexibility of zooms, you can still get the better low light performance. These lenses perform with a 2.8, which means that that's a good balance. Need shallow depth of field? You got it. Need that better booster performance when shooting video or in low light situations?
