Basic timeline editing
- [Instructor] Think of editing as the process of getting rid of mistakes, and then adding just enough refinements to enhance your story. Always begin by listening to the footage that you want to edit. That way you have a better idea of what you're dealing with. I've already done this, so I'll point out where the edit points are for you, but feel free to pause this movie and listen for yourself. Camtasia gives us three ways to cut unneeded footage from a clip. The first is to trim the ends of a clip. Let's begin at the end of our movie. Click on the timeline down near the end of your clip, and then let's zoom into that region by pressing Command + Shift + equals a few times on your keyboard. You may need to adjust your window in order to see the edit cleanly. Then move your mouse over the end of the clip until your cursor turns into a line with an arrow pointing back into the clip, indicating that you're ready to make an edit.
