- [Instructor] Camtasia ships with over 170 annotations to choose from, so how do you choose the right one for the right job? I have to admit, the first time that I looked through all these tabs, I was feeling exactly the same way that you probably are: overwhelmed with choices, but that's when it hit me. There's not over 170 different types of annotations, there really are only six types of annotations with many examples for how you can customize those types. Let's start on the Arrows and Lines tab. Lines are the foundation of nearly all objects, and to be seen on your canvas, they need a combination of three settings: color, thickness, and opacity. The color that you select needs to be one that contrasts with the other footage or backgrounds on your screen. The thickness of the line will determine the weight of the line on the screen, and the opacity will determine if you can see through the line or not.
