- [Instructor] So, how loud should your audio be? Let's take a look at volume levels in Camtasia, and see if we can dispense with some of the mystery behind this question. Camtasia doesn't have a levels meter like you'd find in some audio-specific editors, so what I've done is screen-cap some clips in Audition to give you more of a visual of digital audio. Before I get into this, let me give you a quick rundown about the levels meter. That's this here. At the low end of this, we have negative 24 decibels, or dB for short. And it tops out at zero dB. Now, we're just going to focus on the top end, the how loud part. The short story is, zero dB is as loud as digital audio can get before it starts to clip or distort. You don't want this to happen.
