Understanding the interface

- Camtasia is really two applications that work seamlessly together; the editor and the recorder. And when you first open Camtasia, you're generally taken to the editor since this is where you'll be spending most of your time as you refine and craft your story. Now to capture your story, your going to need open the Camtasia recorder by going up to the red record button in the upper left or pressing control R. Now with the Camtasia recorder, you can capture screen based content from your computer, from your webcam, your microphone, and any other sound that's coming out of your computer. Now we'll step through this process in detail in later movies. For now, let's close the Camtasia recorder and got back to our editor. Now the editor is divided into five separate regions. On the right is your canvas. Now think of this as the stage on which your story will take place. Below the canvas is your timeline. Think of this as the entire script for your story.
