Using a mobile device as a teleprompter

- [Instructor] Now, when creating media-based MicroLearning assets where you'll need to record a voiceover, you'll wanna be both concise and precise in your narration. Therefore, it's a good idea to quickly script out what you're going to say before you press the record button, and using a teleprompter app is a great way to make sure that you hit that concise and precise goal. A great tool for doing this is called PromptSmart, and it's available for both Android and iOS, and here's how it works. You write your script in your favorite text editor. Now, I typically use Google Docs for this, but Microsoft Word or any other text editor should work, as well. Then, make sure your script is saved to a cloud service, such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or Box. You then open PromptSmart on your device and tap Add new and select Import Script. Then navigate to your drive and find the document that you wanna import. Then tap Create, save it and then press play. The app will them listen to your room for a few seconds, and then when you're ready, press record in your screen recorder or on your audio recorder. You then simply begin reading your script, and PromptSmart will follow along automatically with your voice. Now in this movie, we're going to explore working with tabs in the Chrome web browser. Tabs allow us to have multiple web pages open at the same time in the same window and easily click back and forth between them. If you got off script, then PromptSmart will pause and either try to find the right location and jump to it or pick right back up again wherever you left off. And to open a new tab in your browser, go to menu icon to the right of your address bar, and you get the idea. Now, this is a great tool for having in your MicroLearning toolbox, and it's an app that I use literally every day.
