- For many photographers, myself included the location where you capture an image is at least useful and sometimes very important. When I'm traveling, if I've captured an image I like to be able to first of all, remind myself of exactly where I captured a particular photo perhaps so I can figure out what that subject was that I photographed or in other situations it's very helpful so that I can return to the same location. I can just look at the information about where I captured the photo return there, and capture a new photo, perhaps under different weather conditions for example. Well, the Canon 5D Mark IV now includes a GPS receiver so that I can have location information, GPS coordinates and elevation information automatically added to the photos that I capture. It goes right into the meta-data so then I can use software such as Adobe Lightroom to browse my photos on the map so I can see exactly where each image was captured.
